Scholarship Overview
Bayer Foundation Fellowships are designed to enhance existing study programs (MSc, PhD, and medicine) by providing additional funding for international placements or research activities, that are complimentary to current or future scientific studies/next study program.
Students who are enrolled outside of Germany must undertake placement within Germany.
• Students who are enrolled at a German university must undertake placements outside of Germany.
• Fellowships cannot be undertaken at commercial organizations (i.e. in industry).
We offer scientific fellowships for outstanding master, PhD, and medical students to pursue international research projects, internships, and more, providing additional funding for international placements to enhance their study programs.

Green Engineering: According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, green engineering is the practice of designing, commercializing, and implementing processes and products that reduce pollution, promote sustainability, and minimize risks to human health and the environment without sacrificing economic viability or efficiency.
Green Jobs: Based on the United Nations Environment Programmeme (UNEP), Green jobs are roles that contribute to environmental preservation, decarbonisation, and waste reduction while supporting climate change adaptation.
Higher Education: According to the Cambridge Dictionary, higher education refers to education at a college or university where subjects are studied at an advanced level. UNESCO defines higher education as a rich cultural and scientific asset that enables personal development and promotes economic, technological, and social change

Bachelor’s: Based on international qualification frameworks, a Bachelor’s or equivalent level is for learners with intermediate academic or professional knowledge, skills, and competencies. Commonly, programmemes from this level include theory-based, practical components and are informed by state-of-the-art research and/or best professional practice. Typically, programmemes are provided by universities and equivalent tertiary education institutions.
Master’s or equivalent level: According to international higher education standards, Master’s or equivalent level programmemes are designed for learners with in-depth academic and/or professional knowledge, skills, and competencies. These programmemes may include a significant research component but do not yet reach the doctoral level. They are theory-based with practical elements and are informed by cutting-edge research and professional practice, typically offered by universities or equivalent institutions. Advanced Master's, which programmeme refers to follow-up master’s programmemes that incorporate advanced expertise or an expansion of knowledge within a specific field of study. It requires learners to obtain a master’s degree for admission to such a programmeme. Additionally, Joint-Master's refers to master's programmemes conducted across two or more universities.
Diploma: According to international higher education standards, a diploma is a short-cycle tertiary education or an equivalent that is primarily designed to equip learners with professional knowledge, skills, and competencies. These programmemes are typically practical, focused on specific occupations, and aim to prepare students for the job market. They also serve as a pathway to other tertiary education programmemes. These educational qualifications include the Graduate Diploma, typically awarded upon successful completion of a one-year programmeme at a recognised higher education institution. Admission to the programmeme is generally intended for those with a Bachelor’s degree.
Professional Diploma: Following the definition of University College Dublin, a professional diploma is a programmeme generally pursued by individuals expected to have expertise in their field or to shift into a new one. It offers up-to-date and relevant knowledge to be directly practised in the workplace.
Vocational: Based on international higher education standards, vocational refers to education programmemes that equip learners with the knowledge, skills, and necessary competencies for a specific occupation, trade, or group of related trades. These programmemes may consist of work-based components. Upon successful completion, graduates acquire vocational qualifications recognised by national authorities and/or the labour market.
Course: Refers to non-degree short education programmemes.
Double Degree: Refers to programmemes in which participants will obtain two degree certificates from two universities.
